Mission to Romania

Picking Up Where I Left Off

Dear Family and Friends,

Daniel is feeling almost his normal self now and I am so thankful!  It was hard watching him be so sick.  I thank you for your prayers for him.  We felt them!

I am pleased to tell you that it has been unbelievably warm here compared to the winter we had last year.  It has yet to fall below freezing since we returned and many Romanians have told us that they haven’t really had winter this year.  So crazy when it didn’t even get above freezing for over a month last year!!!

I wrote you before we left a quick email about all the places we visited in the USA.  I want to tell you how very blessed we were by so many of you.  Daniel and I feel like The Lord put us in the path of so many wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ during our visit.  We value your friendship and desire your correspondence.  We were inspired by so many of your stories!

Just thought I would share with you some of the breathtaking sights of our great country…….

I wanted to let you know that in the month of January, the son-in-law of our board member, Shawn Hickman, was deployed to Iraq.  His name is Mike Smith and he is told that he will have to serve a fourteen month tour of duty.  His three year old daughter, Alexis, and wife, Amanda, are trying to adjust to life without him now.  We ask you to please pray for Mike and if any of you would like his contact information, please write me and I will pass it along to you.

I am going to write a separate update about what is happening in our Romanian ministry because many of you will not receive the email if it is too large or contains too many photos.  I am fully back in the swing of the ministry here and there are already so many stories to share with you!  Please look for another update within the next day or so titled “Ileana’s story.”  It will really touch your heart.

Romania’s entry into the European Union has been very bad for the economy thus far as it relates to people earning the minimum or average wage.  The inflation is astronomical and many people are fairing much worse than they were last year.  All of our utilities bills at Agape Home have increased so terribly that we will have to revamp the budget very soon.  There are, however, improvements in areas like road development and building renovations and clearly more foreign trade is happening.  We ask you to please pray for our employees as they try to manage on the wages we pay them.  It is very difficult for all of us living here when the dollar continues to fall against the Romanian currency and the Euro.

Many thanks to those of you who have given of your time, talent, and money to serve along with us.  We are keenly aware that we couldn’t do this without you!

Basking in the Son,
Michelle
