Mission to Romania

My Present Battle

Dear Family and Friends,

Daniel and I are both busily packing and preparing to leave for the airport tomorrow morning.  Even as I type this, Daniel is trying to figure out how to pack my last pair of shoes.  (I can see the smiling faces of all you women!)  Please pray for him as he bares most the burden for organizing our lives into four duffle bags.

The problem is that I am certain I am coming down with the flu or something akin and this is after going to an urgent care yesterday and an ophthalmologist today for what turned out to be a virus in both my eyes.  I was in agony yesterday and the day before and our wonderful missionary doctor friend in Rockford, Illinois, Dr. John Koehler, directed me to the care I should seek after correctly diagnosing the problem on the phone.  Today, my vision is much less cloudy now and the irritation has subsided but, almost simultaneously, the chills began along with a sore throat.  Unfortunately, we really must get on the airplane tomorrow because someone is going with us and we have another person coming from a different part of Romania to stay with us the day after we arrive.  All I know at this moment is that I cannot do this on my own and I have not an ounce of strength.  I need your prayers and the power of The Lord to intervene for me in an immediate way.  Furthermore, I detest the thought of infecting others around me on the airplane so I ask you to pray that not happen either.  The last five days have seemed like the most incredible battle ever for many reasons but my flesh is really just overcome at the moment.  I would cherish your prayers.  Thank you to all you wonderful prayer warriors.  I look forward to corresponding with you after we arrive in Romania on the late afternoon of the 14th.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

Basking in the Son,
Michelle
