Mission to Romania

Supplying all our needs

Philippians 4:19&20 “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever.  Amen.”

Dear Family and Friends,

I went to the Children’s hospital yesterday and talked with my friend Dr. Eniko Bereki.  She informed me many of the babies were not getting baby formula because the amount we are supplying is not enough.  We immediately need funds to purchase baby formula.  If you are able to give to this need, please write on a separate piece of paper along with your check “milk money.”

The number of babies being “housed” in the hospital is rapidly increasing because of the new laws that began January 1st.  Now, no child under 2 years of age can be taken and placed in a private facility or in foster homes without the consent of the mother.  This is absolute ludicrous given the fact most of the mothers cannot be found because they give false addresses or they refuse to give consent because they want to take their child home “in a couple of years.”  We hear this all the time.  I beg you to pray for the government here to change the laws.  So many children are being negatively impacted by these new laws.  On top of this, thousands of children, including our own in foster care, will not be adopted in Romania because of their ethnic background.  Most Romanian families do not desire to about a child that is Roma (formerly referred to as gypsy) because they believe they have a genetic predisposition to lying, stealing, and begging.  You can hear the Communist influence in this.  As many of you know, Hitler sought to destroy the Roma population during World War II along with the Jewish population.  We are suffering the effects of this mentality still today.   Pray for the hearts and minds of Romanian families to adopt these precious children.  Unless international adoptions are opened again, I fear many of our children will not grow up in a permanent home.

I talked with the Children’s hospital social worker, Gabi, yesterday.  Many of you will remember that two years ago, we had to bury eight babies who were in the morgue because their parents had stolen the funeral money and left the babies in the hospital.  I was saddened to learn there are another two such cases and she needs $120 each for the process of a legal burial.  The cost of the funerals has increased considerably due to the fall of the dollar and the ever increasing inflation as Romania tries to prepare for entering the European Union.  I very much want to give these little ones a proper funeral service and we will be able to do so once we have the funds allocated.  If you are able to help us with these needs, please write on a separate piece of paper along with your donation “baby funerals.”

On a personal note, I have recently found out my Dad’s heart condition was the result of a heat stroke combined with some medication he was taken.  He wore a heart monitor for a month and had a battery of tests and they found out he was fine.  His heart rate is now back up to more normal.  We praise The Lord for how He answered our prayers.  Also, my Dad never missed a paycheck because he did other work duties while we he was being monitored.  I told Dad, “People are praying for you!” and he said, “Tell them not to stop!!!!”

Daniel’s sister is doing extremely well now and she is back to work full-time.  She said her most recent visit to the oncologist revealed there are no signs of anything abnormal in the blood and her doctors are basically treating her as a precaution.  We are ecstatic by this news and so is she!  We cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of prayers and for the outpouring of cards.  Kristle was excited to tell us each time she talked to us about how many cards she received from our friends!

I want you all to REJOICE with us over the car we just purchased for our ministry!  Daniel and I traveled to Germany two weeks ago and purchased a 2002 Volkswagen Golf station wagon.  We are just too HAPPY to drive around in an air conditioned car in the 100 degree weather we have been having.  For those of you who gave, a million thank yous!!  Our employees want to go everywhere with us now because of the air in the car and I have already made tons of trips delivering supplies, visiting families, and checking on Agape Home.  Here is a photo Daniel took of me and our new car:

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how The Lord, once again, supplies all our needs!

Basking in the Son,
Michelle
