Mission to Romania

Somebody is praying us through!

Nehemiah 9:6 “You alone are The LORD.  You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them.  You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”

Dear Family and Friends,

We KNOW that some of you out there must be praying when you receive our updates!  The Lord has been so gracious to us and we are in an amazing time of prayer harvest.

When I wrote at the end of February, I sent a photo of “Thomas,” our little boy who needs his second cleft lip surgery.  I also told you we hoped a family might want adopt him.  Our social worker took his case before the local child protection commission and got approval to send Thomas to Budapest for the initial consultation.  Afterwards, I contacted another ministry to ask if they would be willing to pay the $2,000 needed for the surgery and I am waiting to hear a response.   After I told the foster family I was hoping to find a family to adopt Thomas, they talked to me and told me Thomas’ oldest foster sister, who will be marrying soon, wants to adopt him!!  She and her fiance could not bear the thought of Thomas leaving their family.  Plus, if they adopt him, the government will give them free housing for a period of time.  This is the best answer to our prayers that we could have received and we are so thrilled the Lord is working out the details.

I also wrote in my last update about all the baby formula we have been buying for the children’s hospital because of the epidemic number of babies recently abandoned.  The Lord answered this prayer for our ministry as well!  My friend, Dr. Bereki, wrote a grant and received a large sum of money to pay for the baby formula on the 9th floor.  This means that we can use the sponsorship we are receiving from our friend at Children’s Bridges of Hope in Vienna to pay for all the OTHER babies that are abandoned on the other floors without our cost doubling.  We praise God for making this provision for His precious little ones.

The Lord also responded to my email about the issue with our furnace for Agape Home.  Lamb’s Chapel Church in Florence, SC emailed us to say they collected the funds for half the cost of a furnace made in Germany!  We are very excited about this and we are currently looking for a ministry in another part of Europe that may be able to use our furnace from the USA.   If we cannot find another ministry that has permission to use it in Europe, we will investigate sending it back to the USA.

We have other exciting news to share with you as well.  One of our sponsors contacted us to say he was donating a the funds necessary for us to get Agape Home authorized!  This enabled us to order the bedroom furniture, the kitchen cabinets, and the bathroom furniture.  If the authorities on the local level do not continue finding “problems” with the house, we could be authorized very soon!  We thank the Lord for allowing our sponsor to be the vessel to shower blessings on us.  The same sponsor also committed to paying for another worker for our Arms of Mercy project.  Now we have TWO women working in the hospital with the abandoned babies.  YAY!!!!  Here is Mihaela, our second worker, with one of the babies on the floor where she is working.

We have a prayer request from one of foster families.  The father of one of our foster mothers, Florica, had a serious stroke last weekend.  Florica’s family has been devastated by this event but they are a strong family of believers.  She said her dad told her he wasn’t afraid to die but he really liked watching his grandchildren grow up.  He has treated their foster child as if he was one of their own biological grandchildren.  Florica’s father is now home but remains semi-paralyzed and unable to communicate very much.  Please pray for their family to have peace as they deal with this difficult situation.

I thought y’all may want to see a before and after photo of one of our foster care babies who was seriously delayed when we rescued her from the Children’s Hospital.   She is on target developmentally and doing very well in every area.  God is the Great Physician, indeed!

Basking in the Son,
Michelle
