“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31: 8-9
Dear Family and Friends,
This was quite a full day for me and a fellow missionary friend, Belinda. She and I both traveled to Bucuresti to meet with the representative at the US embassy. We both had information to share with him regarding international adoption issues in our county.
Since my meeting with a US Senator in July, I have been keeping in touch with their office regarding child welfare issues. It seems that several US Senators are now interested in the plight of children in Romania and how certain activity in international adoptions breeds ineffective child welfare.
To prevent tedious elaboration of the topic, I will simply tell you that our US Ambassador will be meeting with the representative that we spoke to today. I ask that you please be in prayer about this meeting. One possible outcome is congressional hearings. Neither Belinda nor myself are opposed to being a part of congressional hearings but we would rather there be a more immediate outcome to benefit children. We need our Ambassador to exercise wisdom as to what the final outcome should be from the United States.
I will be writing an update about the children and New Life House tomorrow but I ask you to please remember this critical issue in your prayers. Because of this, we are not even being allowed to apply for a license to do adoptions. We have tried for over two months and we keep being postponed. We trust in Jesus and the just plan that He has for the seemingly confusing system.
Basking in the Son,
Michelle
