Mission to Romania

Short and Sweet

Dear Family and Friends,

On Wednesday afternoon, Crizantina was tearfully and joyfully reunited with her family. It only took her about two hours to become comfortable enough with them for me to leave and give them privacy. Yesterday morning, I went back out to their village and to insure that everyone was okay and I was met by a beaming, slightly more disheveled Crizantina that was in all her glory surrounded by her sisters! She excitedly told me of how she had slept in the bed with her mother at long last. Everyone in her family was radiant at the return of Crizantina although they are struggling horribly with their impoverished situation. I explained that we would be buying a house for them closer to Oradea but their greatest concern was food. Before I left the US, several people gave me money for her family so I am able to take food to them each time I visit but feeding 10 people becomes expensive and overwhelming. Please pray for her family and the needs they have. Crizantina is doing a fantastic job of walking with and without her braces!! (I have pictures to share but due to software problems, I am unable to download them. I will try again soon!)

I beseech each of you for prayer for the legal process for my Romanian non-profit. I was told my attorney yesterday that the local authorities will not grant me approval until I submit my paperwork to the Romanian Department of Children. We have plans to submit all of this paperwork on Monday morning but we ask for your prayers in obtaining the approval we need. Without this, we cannot begin to proceed with our plans for the juvenile rehabilitation facility or getting supplies shipped here.

I received a phone call this morning from the woman in Pitesti that has the 4 young women that I wrote about this summer. Some of you may remember that these young women were sold into prostitution slavery. I have fabulous news to share with you…all but one is in school and doing very well!! The one that is pregnant with syphilis is having a great pregnancy and she is also attending school. Praise God for answering prayers!

I ask that you be praying for my and Barbara’s physical health. The day after we arrived, we both caught a cold. Then, last night, I developed some type of stomach funk (technical term for the benefit of all the physician’s on my email list! 8-) that left me up most of the night. I look and feel like I am a pale shade of green today!

We have been tremendously busy since we arrived in Oradea. We have only had time to visit the babies in the hospital briefly but most seem to be doing well. Vandana, the abandoned baby that I wrote about this summer that was a failure to thrive, has now been taken home by her mother. This situation concerns me greatly and I will be making a visit to her mother’s home this week.

Thanks again to all of you that have supported this ministry with prayer and with finances. I praise God that He has given me such a dynamic group of supporters!!

Basking in the Son,
Michelle
