Mission to Romania

Have Mercy

Dear Family and Friends,

God has provided in a mighty way here in Romania. As I wrote you before, the living conditions that I had when I arrived in Romania were akin to slums. However, yesterday, God provided a new apartment here far better than I could dream or imagine.

The other social workers, Emilia and Dana, were told yesterday morning that they had to be out of their apartment last night. Emilia thought that she already had a wonderful, large apartment lined up for all four of us to live in. (Estie, my present roommate, was to be included.) When she went to examine the apartment yesterday, the man decided that he did not want to rent to her….he “changed his mind” which translates to mean he wanted more money.

Emilia was frantic because it takes so long to get anything accomplished. So, I began to pray fervently for God to provide what He wanted us to have. I then began calling other Christians in Romania that I met last December. One suggested that I call the local Baptist bible college and explain my dilemma. That is exactly what I did. I explained that I was a missionary from the states working with a Christian organization here in Oradea and that I and my colleagues needed a place to live immediately. Within 30 minutes we had a beautiful three bedroom apartment completely furnished with handmade wood furniture, beds…yes, I said beds…a refrigerator, a walk-in pantry, 2 bathrooms with flushing toilets (yahoo!), and a promise from the director of the bible college that it was my home as long as I wanted it. If I had to guess, I would say it has 1,600 square feet. Emilia and Dana were stunned. In a land where nothing happens quickly, this was certainly a miracle. The director told us that the owners only rent to Christians and they take only his referrals. Praise God for providing for His sheep in such a miraculous way! I feel blessed beyond words. And, my bedroom overlooks a McDonalds, yep, you read correctly, McDonalds complete with a MacDrive (a drive thru is a HUGE deal here!). I can tell you that a MacChicken was never this savory in the states!!! :-) Anyway, we all moved in last night.

I bigger plus…I have not seen one mosquito in my room!!

The area is the safest in Oradea and considered to be the upscale side of town. He allowed us to have it apartment for $150 US dollars a month…extremely cheap for such a nice place.

For all of you who have emailed me and told me that you were praying, I want you to know God heard you. Praise Him for being faithful to His sheep.

God bless you all and keep you in His care.

Basking in the Son,
Michelle
